Film Festivals present an opportunity for filmmakers, cast and crew to celebrate their visual achievements with all audiences. Dallas is fortunate enough to serve as host to many regional, national and international events at locations throughout the DFW area.

Asian Film Festival of Dallas

July 21 - 24, 2022

Since 2002, the volunteer-run Asian Film Festival of Dallas has grown to become one of the south’s largest showcases of Asian and Asian-American cinema. The Asian Film Festival of Dallas (AFFD) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to celebrating and supporting emerging and established Asian and Asian-American filmmakers and sharing the rich diversity of Asian culture through the medium of cinema.

With Dallas serving as the backdrop for President John F. Kennedy's assassination, it was only fitting that director Oliver Stone bring this epic to life in that historic Dealey Plaza setting. The 1991 film, starring Kevin Costner and Tommy Lee Jones, was nominated for eight Academy Awards that season.
