On September 29, Texas Music Office (TMO) Director Brendon Anthony presented Mayor Eric Johnson with the Music Friendly Community designation for Dallas. The designation is the collaborative effort led by the Dallas Film & Creative Industries Office and leaders in the Dallas music community. The program seeks to foster music business-related economic development in Texas cities and communities. CLICK HERE to read the full press release.

In efforts to promote our local music industry, we are teaming up with the TMO to list you in our new Creative Industries Directory. If you are listed in the TMO directory, your information has already been entered. You will need to set up a password to access your account. Simply go to the SIGN IN page, enter your email address and click on “forgot password”. You will be emailed a reset link. Please confirm your information, including categories that may apply. We will be syncing information with the TMO quarterly to keep both databases updated.

Matthew McConaughey and Wild Turkey teamed up to thank everyday heroes by supporting community-Based music initiatives with a series of $10,000 Donations. Congratulations to Dallas’ Jess Garland on being recognized as a local legend! Understanding the emotional, therapeutic power of music, Jess formed the non-profit Swan Strings, which brings free music lessons to Dallas residents. She is also the Executive Director of another music-centric non-profit, Girls Rock Dallas. For her $10,000 donation, she has selected Deep Ellum 100, an organization that provides financial grants to musicians affected by the pandemic.
